Corporate Giving

CapitalSource is committed to giving back to the communities in which we work and live.

Making an Investment in the Community

It is our responsibility to support our community, particularly those in the most underserved areas. We support non-profit organizations that work in areas such as education, workforce development, and healthcare. Through our employee service programs, we encourage employees to give back through financial contributions and volunteer work.

Corporate Grants

Each year we award grants to a host of nonprofit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. In addition to providing grant funding, many of our employees volunteer at these organizations. 2009 grantees include:

  • BUILD provide real-world entrepreneurial experience that empowers youth from under-resourced communities to excel in education, lead in their communities, and succeed professionally.
  • Childhelp meets the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused, neglected, and at-risk children through advocacy, prevention, treatment, and community outreach.
  • Doorways for Women and Families strives to end homelessness and family and intimate partner violence by offering safe shelter and housing, life changing support services, and community advocacy.
  • Miriam's Kitchen provides breakfast, transitional housing, case management, and after-breakfast programs to homeless individuals.

Employee Service

Through our matching fund program and dedicated volunteer hours, our employees are encouraged to make a commitment to community service.

Matching Fund Program

We recognize our employees’ generosity by matching employee donations to qualifying charitable organizations.

Volunteer Hours

We encourage employees to share their time and talents with 16 hours of paid daytime leave for volunteer work each year. In addition, throughout the year, we sponsor a variety of corporate-wide service programs as well as department service outings; a sampling of programs we've served over the years follows.
