For a second year in a row, CapitalSource and CapitalSource Bank employees helped fulfill the holiday wishes of children at Childhelp’s Alice C. Tyler Village in Virginia. Childhelp is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect through prevention, intervention, and treatment. CapitalSource and CapitalSource Bank employees, aided by the company’s matching program, donated over $8,000 in kind, including countless gifts for 11 of the village’s children, nine DVD players, blood pressure cuffs, a digital camera, winter jackets, and 140 spinning toothbrushes. Not to be outdone by its employees, CapitalSource and CapitalSource Bank made a separate donation of $22,000 to the village, bringing the total to $30,000 this holiday season.
Six inches of perfect white snow help set the mood for the holiday party held December 5th. Eager children, village staff members, and five-time Nobel Peace Prize nominees and original founders of Childhelp, Sara O'Meara and Yvonne Fedderson welcomed several CapitalSource employees. Village children performed a beautiful reenactment of “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which was followed by a festive lunch, time with Santa, the opportunity to open one of the many gifts delivered for the children, and special time spent with their assigned buddy for the day.
All who participated were touched by these truly special children, and the village staff was very thankful for the volunteer’s time as well as the gifts and donations. Director of Community Service, Wade Hardman, noted, “The multitude of contributions received from CapitalSource and CapitalSource Bank this past year has been remarkable. From your field day visit to the corporate donations and holiday gifts—all contributions have touched the lives of these important and special children. You have helped us to bring a quality of life that these children have yet to experience and we strive to bring, as they move forward with their young lives. I want to extend this truly sincere thank you from the children and staff of Alice C. Tyler Village of Childhelp.”
