As a Portfolio Manager within CapitalSource’s Structured Finance group, Mr. Sosner is primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of troubled real estate assets and implementing a special servicing asset management operation for all nonperforming classes of commercial real estate and real estate owned as well as procedures to turnaround, reposition, and/or liquidate such assets.

With nearly 25 years of experience in the asset management and loan recovery business, Mr. Sosner has provided complete real estate investment banking and management services including troubled debt restructure and recapitalization services for institutions and investors. His experience also includes debt and property acquisition, placement of first mortgage and mezzanine debt facilities, and corporate finance—representing over $2 billion of single and portfolio transactions.

Prior to relocating to Washington, D.C., Mr. Sosner owned and operated Sosner Capital and Consulting, a real estate investment banking firm headquartered in Needham, Massachusetts. For a ten-year period, Sosner Capital was dedicated to placing and purchasing senior debt and mezzanine financing for institutional and debtor clients. He also directed distressed loan pools purchased for investment by major institutions to maximize recovery through workout, repositioning, and legal strategies. 

Mr. Sosner served as Vice President of Asset Management of the real estate owned and non-performing debt portfolios of the Bank of New England and of Shawmut Bank, both in Boston, Massachusetts and was Vice President of Acquisition and Asset Management for MGI Properties, a NYSE Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) also in Boston.
